About Acre of Roses - The Potting Shed

Acre of Roses is a luxe wellness retreat nestled on a magical micro rose farm in the village of Trentham, part of Victoria’s stunning Daylesford & Macedon Ranges. As of May 2025, we are proud to be recognised as Australia’s first certified Wellness in Travel and Tourism property, meeting global standards across five key pillars: Healthy Eating, Holistic Healing, Nature, Movement, and Local Impact/Sustainability. The Potting Shed, our charming studio-style accommodation for up to two guests with a queen bed, has recently undergone a thoughtful style revamp to complement our new Tuscan-inspired, drought-tolerant gardens—a natural extension of our commitment to seasonal beauty and regenerative living. While its rustic design evokes the romance of days gone by, every modern comfort is discretely included to ensure a truly luxurious stay. The space features a kitchenette with a convection microwave oven, air fryer, fridge/freezer, Ilve BBQ, commercial coffee machine, dishwasher, and Netflix-connected TV. You'll also enjoy Wi-Fi, air conditioning, a genuine pot belly wood stove, and a walk-in shower with a gentle copper rain showerhead. Guests are treated to a gourmet breakfast hamper, curated by local chef Michael Furness, with seasonal recipes and fresh produce from our gardens when available. And for the ultimate slow-living indulgence, enjoy a private Outdoor Bath Experience on one evening of your stay, plus on-demand firepits during winter. Just a short stroll away lies Trentham village, with its warm country pubs, local shopping, renowned restaurants, and the spectacular Wombat State Forest right on your doorstep.

    Acre of Roses

Meet Your Host, Acre of Roses

Sandy McKinley, a New Zealand–born marketer turned floral artisan and wellness advocate, and Rob Roy, a Melbourne-born craftsman and builder, are the founders of Acre of Roses. Their vision: a place of quiet luxury and natural beauty where guests pause to smell the roses. This micro flower farm is pesticide- and herbicide-free, nurtured with a low-intervention, closed-loop approach. Living discreetly on site, Sandy and Rob warmly welcome you to this restful, regenerative retreat.
