    About Basedow Haus

We acknowledge the Ngadjuri, Peramangk and Kuarna peoples as the traditional custodians of the lands known as the Barossa Valley and Adelaide Hills. We pay our respect to the elders past and present and extend that respect to all First Nations leaders, their continuing connection to Country and culture, keepers of history, traditions and knowledge of this land and waterways. This fully restored historic self-contained accommodation offers two spacious king-sized bedrooms for couples or friends. Many original features throughout include iron lace work verandah, Baltic pine floors, and high pressed metal ceilings. With a formal lounge and wood slow combustion heater to provide warmth and ambience for a cosy winter evening. The architecturally designed, light filled extension includes a spacious bathroom and open living space with fully equipped kitchen, large country style dining and casual lounge area. Feature windows look out to a large, attractive lawn and garden area, gum trees and distant hills. The paved alfresco area with barbeque is ideal for outdoor dining or drinks watching the sunset. There are spots to sit, relax and take in the views both inside and out. Much thought, attention and heart has gone into the Haus and garden to create a welcoming sense of comfort, relaxation and feeling right at home. Located in a historic character precinct of Tanunda, opposite the iconic Chateau Tanunda and its vineyards. The regional arts centre and main street with specialty shops and award-winning dining and cafés are a short stroll away. The character and convenience of Basedow Haus is a perfect place to experience all the Barossa has to offer. Like the Barossa vines, our roots run deep with seven generations of local family and traditions within the region. We celebrate and respect diversity and are committed to inclusion, equity, and intersectionality. While we make the transition from city life to country living, we have been welcoming guests since mid 2021.
