Lunawunna TreeTop Retreat

An adults only Retreat in the tree tops to rest, remember and reconnect. Our place is a light-filled, hand built wooden retreat for couples, friends or singles. It's for reconnecting and remembering - it's not a highly curated space - It's our home away from the desert, a landing point for us, and is filled with our treasures. From desert and top end art and weavings, to things collected farther afield from our travels, books - many handed down from Mid's dad an amateur ornithologist, textiles and furniture that has been gifted or found in local antique stores or here on Bruny. THE SPACE: Head up the stairs, to be met with a large, open plan space, with windows all around to take in the views of the treetops and the sky. There's space for yoga, art, reading and meditating or just watching the sky or the birds in the trees. The bedrooms are a retreat in themselves - each with a Koala KING sized mattress, large side tables for piles of books, mid century furniture to pack away your clothes and plush linen. The large kitchen has all you need to cook hearty meals, make stovetop chai, coffee 3 x ways, or create a cocktail. We've created this retreat from our hearts and as such it's a reflection of our love of nature, art, yoga, the ancient cultures and our travels. You'll find a large collection of nature and fiction books, cards, games, wool for knitting, puzzles, pencils and paints. We even supply you with Manduka yoga mats, Stretch Now Bolsters and blocks. Bruny can be chilly - to keep you warm there's a large wood heater and plenty of wood, and panel heaters in the bedrooms and bathroom. And of course super warm doona's, extra lush throw rugs and we even supply locally made Tassie heat packs to put on your belly at night. Finally, we LOVE tea and coffee- Villino coffee supplied - (machine, Mocha pot or French Press) and Chaiwalli Chai, Decaf Chai, plus a section of black and herbal teas from the Local Art of Tea Tasmania. Outside is the fire pit to watch the night sky and a large sloping space with very little landscaping, in keeping with the wildness of Bruny Island and allowing wildlife to come and go as they please. Several birdbaths dot the block, as do some chairs. So you can head out and sit quietly to read or watch the birds. There's even a picnic blanket and some cushions to take outside. The beautiful Daniels Bay is at the bottom of our road, a 2 min walk to the boat ramp and you can potter along the coastline with your cuppa. There are also several quiet beaches a short 3 min drive away or a lovely 10 min walk. Other beaches such as Cloudy Bay Beach, Alonnha, Adeventure Bay are around 10-25 mins away. TO NOTE: Our place, like all of Bruny runs on rainwater, which is limited - we ask you shower 1 x per day, 2 mins if possible. Treetop retreat is wild. So the block allows wallabies, echidnas and more to roam through it, and other things like insects. Our place has no fly screens, you can open the sliding windows for fresh air, noting that blowflies and bees will get in. Our place also has no TV or Wifi. We find it a really soothing way to rest. However, you can get phone coverage. We find it best to download a few movies you might want to watch before you come. There are no curtains, the window are high up so no one can see in, but please bring an Eye mask if you need for sleep.
