The Whimsy

An early 1900s miners cottage, The Whimsy is located in the tiny town of Weldborough at the foot of the Blue Tier. The area is steeped in history and known for its mystical ancient fairytale forests, once a home for the Thylacine (Tasmanian tiger).
Take in beautiful waterfalls, experience bushwalking adventures or ride the world class network of mountain bike trails of Blue Derby and the Blue Tier that weave their way through the spectacular mossy green fern forests and ancient remnant Gondwanic wilderness surrounding Weldborough.
The Whimsy is an amazing base for mountain biking where you can ride directly to a number of trails close by or catch a shuttle to others from the Historic Weldborough Hotel 5 minutes down the road.
Weldborough is located on the Tasman Highway less than two hours from Launceston, four hours from Hobart and if you are sailing in on the Spirit of Tasmania the drive is three hours from Devonport.

Accessibility Information
As The Whimsy is an old cottage it unfortunately will not be readily accessible to everyone and the following information is provided so you can determine if it is suitable for you and your travelling companions:
– There is a slight incline down to the cottage if you park on the gravel parking spot and there are two large stone steps down to the path if you park on the gravel along the front fence.
-There are paving stones which are old and a little irregular leading to the front door.
-There is a small step up to the front verandah, quite a large step and a second smaller one down from the living room to the kitchen and there is a step down to the rear bedroom.
-The shower/bath requires you to climb up into a claw foot bath where a hand rail is provided.
-There are two steps down from the back door to outside which again is paved with old, irregular stones and some of this is on an incline as you move away from the house into the backyard.
