Resting above the St Pauls River in the historic town of Avoca, this gorgeous miner’s cottage offers a tranquil escape with delicate, ever changing river views. Exuding warmth and charm, you'll feel relaxed lounging by the fire, or reflecting by the riverbank, where platypus are often seen swimming by. Positioned at the gateway to Tasmania’s East Coast, the cottage has everything you need for a quiet getaway, the perfect base for exploring Tassies top wineries, beaches, and waterfalls.
From the moment you enter the cottage, you're greeted by serene views of the river and surrounding countryside. Reimagined with modern comforts, the cottage retains the undeniable charm of its 1910 miner’s heritage. As you explore, you’ll find two beautifully decorated bedrooms, each featuring a queen bed draped in soft French linen and lounges perfect for reading while listening to the birds outside. The new kitchen and dining area seamlessly integrates into the original cottage. Prepare intimate dinners from the farmhouse-style kitchen, whilst taking in picturesque sunsets and views of the river. Nearby, you can relax on the chaise lounge or enjoy the view from the private deck. The crooked chimney proudly stands at the heart of the home. Sink into the leather lounge and watch the fire or enjoy a board game or cards. You can also listen to your favourite music on the Bluetooth speaker or smart TV. Panel heaters in the bedrooms and plenty of woollen and electric blankets, ensure you stay warm on frosty mornings. In warmer weather, the river below is perfect for a refreshing swim, with a reverse-cycle air conditioner for instant heating or cooling. The cottage has been carefully styled to reflect its history and the surrounding environment, with every detail designed for your comfort and relaxation. From the fenced yard, you can chat with the friendly sheep, who love to an share apple, or follow them down to the river’s edge. Across the river, you’ll spot horses grazing and distant farmland. The spacious bathroom, with river views, features a custom rain-head shower, luxurious towels, and Tasmanian-made bathroom products. From carefully reusing timbers in the cottage renovations, to sourcing locally roasted coffee and handmade soaps, and avoiding single use items, we’ve taken care to minimize our environmental footprint. There is ample space for up to four people, but perfectly cosy for couples or explorers.
